Fandango Digital discusses the recent updates in the digital marketing industry.
Google releases Bard
On … of March Google released Bard, their AI chatbot, to some users. It’s responsive at sourcing information from across Google. This will be a great tool for finding keywords and finding out information quickly in a succinct form. We’re excited to get properly started with Bard and see how it can influence our marketing efforts. Have a look at us trialing Bard below.
Google notes along the bottom that “Bard may display inaccurate or offensive information that doesn’t represent Google’s views.” As the AI chatbot learns and matures it will hopefully iron out any inconsistencies in inaccurate or offensive responses.
AI has proposed an ethical dilemma. 1,000 influential people signed an open letter to slow down the progress of AI. What do you think? Our team is interested in discussing AI, feel free to email hello@fandangodigital.co.uk to start a conversation!
New Google Core update March 2023
A new broad core update was rolled out on the 15th of March and was scheduled to complete after two weeks. Google never gives details so it’s impossible to tell what’s changed but it’s important to note that it isn’t a penalty. Great web pages will always be rewarded, even if they dip slightly. In times of volatility, keeping an eye out on rankings and reviewing web content is important. Making sure your site has helpful content for users is paramount.
TikTok banned from UK government devices
The UK government announced TikTok is to be banned from parliamentary devices due to spying fears. Following data privacy issues with the social media app being discussed in the USA, the UK Government has decided to ban the app from all government devices. We will have to see how this affects TikTok’s exponential growth as a social media powerhouse.
Reminder ads on Instagram
A new ad option is available on Instagram, reminder ads. Reminder stickers on stories and posts are used to highlight key events that are upcoming. They work similarly to ordinary posts but also allow users to receive a reminder notification ahead of the event. This type of ad is a great way to promote your business event to users who are likely to attend.
Twitter’s For You
Twitter will now show verified users in the ‘For you’ feed, even if you don’t follow those accounts. Verified users are current Twitter Blue subscribers which costs around £11 a month. So, paying for Twitter Blue is one way to get your tweets seen by more users.
