Social Media Marketing is a powerful tool.  So why do many businesses think it’s not for them?  Let’s explore…

It’s too technical for me

Social Media platforms are, on the whole, user-friendly, and guide you through the set up process.  The tricky part is finding time to create content to share.  If you need some guidance – from setting up accounts through to knowing which platforms to use – ask the team at Fandango Digital, we’re here to help!

My target market doesn’t use Social Media

Going to stick my neck out here and suggest that your customers and potential clients probably do.  Even if they don’t have active personal accounts, chances are they still take a sneaky peek on at least one social media platform when they are deciding whether or not to trust you.  Which brings us to the next point…

Social Media puts everything out in the open, there’s no privacy

…People are nosey.  If they can’t easily find your business on the Internet, there is the risk of mistrust creeping in.  These days we expect to find everything and everyone on the Internet, and if not, we question why.  Insecurities may surface, such as; what is the organisation is hiding?  Is it a genuine business?  Who’s behind it?  Social media is the most cost-effective way to get your business a web presence.

People can complain about my product or service, and it’s there for the whole world to see

Let’s turn this around.  This is a good thing, an opportunity to show off your excellent customer service and turn the complaint around.  If a customer complains on their own social media account or to their friends in person, there’s not much you can do about it.  If the remark is posted on your social media business page, you can control this with a polite, non defensive response, then request that they privately send you their email address or telephone number so that you can contact them directly to discuss further.

It doesn’t make me sales

Maybe not obvious direct sales, unless you are clever with your posts or go down the paid advertising route.  But, social media does raise awareness and increase brand presence by giving you access to an enormous market.  Can you afford to miss out on all those potential clients and recommendations?

The positives far outweigh the negatives when it comes to social media marketing.
