Google teases update to helpful content system

In the coming months, the helpful content update will see improvements. This update will focus on ranking content that is from a “personal or expert point of view”. This means working on helpful content written in your tone’s brand voice will still be key in SEO.

A new Google crawler

Google released a new GoogleBot, named Google-InspectionTool. The new crawler is used to test tools like the URL inspection tool in Google Search Console.

Internal documents from Google alluded that AI tools will be able to create media assets for advertisers and video ideas for content creators on YouTube. We’re likely to see AI integrated more across the internet so this is only the beginning of what AI will be helping us with!

Google will start deleting inactive accounts

If your Google account has been inactive for two years, it could be cut from the platform. If you’re using a Google account for business make sure to sign in and use the account regularly so this doesn’t happen!

Meta fined $1.3 billion

Meta violated EU privacy laws resulting in a $1.3 billion payout. This was due to data from EU users being sent and stored in the US. Meta hasn’t got the best track record when it comes to GDPR, which is a key thing to consider when strategizing.

Bing Chat and Bard integrate images

Now, when conversing with AI chatbots images will now be returned in queries. AI hype has quietened a bit while developers work on the tools to improve them but both companies have been busy improving what the chatbots can offer.

TikTok announces ‘Tako’ AI for discovering content

This chatbot is in the early stages of testing in select markets and is designed to help with discovering new, inspiring content. We’ll look more into this once it’s released in the UK.

Instagram (Meta) is looking to compete with Twitter

A text-based version of Instagram is in the pipeline which will have a similar UI to Instagram but posts will be solely text. This is rumoured to be called ‘Barcelona’ perhaps in ode to the filter. We’ll have to see where this goes.
