During the last few months, things have changed considerably for most of the country and indeed worldwide. Our daily life of only a few months ago now seem long forgotten and we have all settled in for a new ‘normal’.
In our personal life’s, we have missed the face-to-face contact with our friends and families. Lots of parents have become teachers overnight. Instead of looking forward to a night out we are looking forward to the weekly shop!
The dramatic change in our personal life’s is only one element, I don’t think there are any businesses that haven’t been affected by COVID-19. Some businesses have sadly got into massive difficulties, some have managed to adapt and then there are some who have got busier. I think it has made all businesses review their business models and if they can, they need to adapt to help survive. One way for retailers in particular is to have a strong e-commerce offering.
Google Shopping is Going to be FREE
There is good news on the horizon for those businesses with an e-commerce website. Google is now opening its Shopping Channel to unpaid advertisers. Since 2012, Google Shopping has been available to paid subscribers only. This has now changed and there will be a mix of paid and free listings.
Google has rolled out the free listings in the USA and will roll out to other countries this year. Google had planned to implement this, however they brought forward the plans due to COVID-19.
